On-page SEO is optimizing elements within a page — title tag, headings, content, internal links, images, and schema — so search engines understand and rank it. It is the part of SEO fully within your control.
For Shopify stores, on-page wins concentrate in collection descriptions, meta titles matched to real query language, descriptive alt text, and internal links from blog content to money pages.
A meta title (title tag) is the HTML title shown as the clickable headline in search results. It is the strongest on-page relevance signal and the biggest driver of click-through rate. Keep it under ~60 characters with the target keyword near the front.
Internal linking is connecting pages within your own site. It distributes authority from strong pages to important ones, helps crawlers discover content, and tells search engines which pages matter most. Blog-to-collection links are ecommerce’s highest-leverage internal links.
Schema markup is structured data (usually JSON-LD) added to pages so search engines and AI systems understand content explicitly — product, price, rating, FAQ, article. It powers rich results and increasingly feeds AI answers in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
