Structured data is information formatted in a standardized, machine-readable way — on the web, usually schema.org vocabulary expressed as JSON-LD. It lets search engines and LLMs parse facts (prices, ratings, authors) without guessing from prose.
Schema markup is structured data (usually JSON-LD) added to pages so search engines and AI systems understand content explicitly — product, price, rating, FAQ, article. It powers rich results and increasingly feeds AI answers in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
AI crawlers are bots that fetch web content for AI systems — GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot, Google-Extended (Gemini training), and CCBot (Common Crawl). Each respects robots.txt, so you choose per-bot whether to allow access.
